Ballet for Figure Skaters
NEW UPCOMING BOOK

"Lessons in Classical Ballet for the Figure Skater"

Excerpt From Annette's Upcoming Book: "Spacing at the Barre and Center"

Adequate and correct spacing at the barre and in the center is essential as the student’s entire concept of him/her self and the space around them is introduced in the classroom.  If complete freedom of movement is curtailed in ANY direction the result will be that the student will execute movements and steps in a retracted, tentative and guarded way so that full out movement may never be achieved.  One can see this often at recitals where students’ movements look as though they are dancing in a very small box.  Not only is this artistically wide of the mark but it is also biomechanically unsound and can easily lead to poorly formed muscles, incorrect alignment and eventually even injuries…
